Dr. Darryl Hill, a lecturer and director of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) at Oakland University and senior vice president for safety and security at First Student, Inc. — North America’s largest provider of school bus transportation — has been selected by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) as the 2025 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Sixth grade students from Weston Academy toured the historic landmark of Meadow Brook Hall. Donated in 1957, the extravagant mansion and museum sits on Oakland University’s campus on an acre of over one thousand.

The Academies celebrated another year of the Oakland University Public School Academy Book Writing Contest for National Reading Month. The annual contest serves to encourage student’s creativity and showcase their writing and illustration skills.

This year, Oakland University hosted several of our academies for a College Day Visit and tour of campus. We were thrilled to host three different schools, Universal Academy's eighth and eleventh graders, Four Corners Montessori eighth graders and Weston Academy’s eighth graders.

Dr. Shweta Kapur — a physical therapist, recent Ph.D. graduate, and graduate research and teaching assistant in the Department of Human Movement Science at Oakland University — had her study, “Incongruence between Self-report and Performance-based Measure of Balance in Community-Dwelling Adults,” published in the prestigious Journal of Gerontology: Medical Sciences,  a leading journal in the field of aging and health and flagship journal of the Gerontological Society of America.

The release aligns with the Quartet’s featured presentation at the prestigious Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) Convention in San Antonio, Texas.
